  • What is midwifery care?

    Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) are licensed independent primary health care providers that provide traditional care for mothers and infants. CNMs monitor the physical, psychological and social well-being of the mother throughout their pregnancy and deliver individualized education, counseling and prenatal care. Certified Nurse Mid-wives provide expert care during labor and delivery, as well as postpartum support.

  • What is a midwife and what kind of education, training and licensure do midwives receive?

    A Nurse-Midwife is trained and licensed in nursing and midwifery. Nurse-midwifery education will take at least 8 years (4 years for bachelor’s degree, one year nursing experience and three years in a nurse midwifery program). A Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) is a licensed registered nurse (RN) with a specialized degree in nurse midwifery.

  • What are the hours of the midwife?

    Monday-Thursday, 8 am—5 pm

  • Does the midwife provide only pregnancy care?

    No, our Certified Nurse-Midwife provides annual gynecological exams, family planning and reproductive education and management.

  • Where does your midwife deliver?

    Our Certified Nurse-Midwife is the only Certified Nurse-Midwife in Northern Alabama practicing in the Huntsville area. She will be delivering at the Huntsville Hospital.

  • Will my insurance cover my midwifery care?

    Midwifery care is covered by most insurance plans. However, we ask that you call to verify your benefits.
